Dear collectors, I know that most of the paintings we can buy on the market are dirty and that the temptation to clean them in an "amateur" way is very strong.
DO NOT DO IT!!!!
The cleaning of a painting is a non-reversible process and a very impotant damage could be done if not performed in the right, professional way.
Also, do not use a low quality final varnish, or varnish not indicated for oil paintings, to protect your works of art: this cuold impede a correct cleaning even if performed by a professional conservator of paintings.
